Time to get in depth – DAY 2

Time to get in depth – DAY 2
Peter Szilveszter

Another sunny day in Sydney and another day to cram in more information! Before getting into the nitty gritty we gave away the DP SLIDER PRIME to Steven Boyle and a PLURALEYES license to Steph Killip.

First cab off the rank was Bruce Pattenson, who went into the story of his business Cloud Nine Creative, and how it has developed over the past 10 years. Bruce challenged the attendees to think about their own journey and to recognise areas for growth and improvement in their own business. Bruce’s experience in running a successful business provided attendees with lots of practical advice on dealing with elements such as staffing, financial aspects and getting to your right target market.

Joe Simon was the next speaker opening with a killer promo of his past work, then discussing the art of cinematography and how camera movement can add depth and excitement to your productions and super handy tips on reception lighting. After a mini break, Michael Wong returned to go into great depth about how to get that killer shot and as he put it “Clean your shit” was also his advice. Another highlight was that we got a treat to his impersonation which you’ll be able to check out in the highlight on friday. Michael’s session was full of practical and invaluable advice that attendees can take home and start implementing straight away.

For the final session of EDU day two Artie Jones of Factory Sound took to the podium to let attendees into the secret of getting audio in the field.  Giving great tips on what microphones to use and the various result you get with them by demonstrating  with attendee interaction  of a ceremony situation, so Luke, Daniel and Matt participated in the roles of the bride, groom and celebrant, helped everyone to hear how each of the mic’s performed.

The day was full of laughter and some very valuable information that took everyone to deeper understanding of the business and story telling.
